Not Date!!!!!!! What?

Now I have never dated but when I turned 19 I was like well Lord im not married yet?

I had a lot of Question’s. How was I going to find a wife? What did the Lord want me to do?

So I started to search the Bible for some insight on the subject. Pro 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, And obtaineth favor of Jehovah. Pro 5:18 So be happy with your wife and find your joy with the woman you married.Pro 5:19 pretty and graceful as a deer. Let her charms keep you happy; let her surround you with her love.

It says in Matthew Henry's Commentary on Pro 5:18

Let him that is married take delight in his wife, and let him be very fond of her, not only because she is the wife that he himself has chosen and he ought to be pleased with his own choice, but because she is the wife that God in his providence appointed for him and he ought much more to be pleased with the divine appointment, pleased with her because she is his own. Let thy fountain be blessed think thyself very happy in her, look upon her as a blessed wife, let her have thy blessing, pray daily for her, and then rejoice with her. Those comforts we are likely to have joy of that are sanctified to us by prayer and the blessing of God. It is not only allowed us, but commanded us, to be pleasant with our relations; and it particularly becomes yoke-fellows to rejoice together and in each other. Mutual delight is the bond of mutual fidelity. It is not only taken for granted that the bridegroom rejoices over his bride, but given for law. Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of thy life. God in his providence appointed for him. It makes sense to me that God made me and this earth why can't he help me find  my wife. Then I found Joshua Harris's book (I Kissed Dating Goodbye). Ive read this book like five times, you know how you find a good book and you; just want to soak it up. While I read his book I searched the Bible at the same time. God says some where is His word “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. " He new me when I was in my mothers womb, He knows the trouble that ill go through in the future and what im going through now so why not? Surly He can help me find my wife. "Trust Him even if it means not dating when other people think you should. When God knows you're ready for the responsibility of commitment, He'll reveal the right person under the right circumstances." Josh. I made a vow to God and my future wife. Along time ago when I was 15 years old that I would save my first kiss for that day when the pastor would say and I quote "I now pronounce you man and wife you may kiss the bride". And that I will stay pure for Her. I would have never made it this far if it was not for the Lord in my life I owe it all to God. In the past couple of years ive learned to love the Lord Ive found that I need Him every hour of every day. I believe that the Lord wants me to take the route of Courtship. I went to the THSC conference an I signed up for teen staff and in between helping out we went to classes at this one class. There was a married couple John and Laurie and they talked about the option of courtship and how they had met, and that courtship works with the guidance of the Lord through prayer.” But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives,” the Bible tells us,” he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control"(Galatians 5:22-23, NLT). “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. " When the Holy Spirit guides our journey toward marriage, our relationships will exhibit the same qualities.". From Josh's book.

Rebecca St. James has this song that’s been a great encouragement to me its called "Wait for me" I think it’s a letter to her future husband.

So im trusting in God on this matter.

I am, no I will be living my for Jesus from this day forward,
It will be hard but with the Lord working through me I can
do this.

True Love Can What with Gods help..

Hey Adam,
I know how you are feeling with questions for God.

" Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6

I find this verse to be so encouraging!
Also, I will definitely be praying that God will give you the strength to stop smoking...

I love where it says "I will strengthen you; Yea, I will uphold you with the righthand of my righteouness." Isaiah 41:10
God will give you strength to overcome this habit! Stand strong. I am praying for you brother.
God Bless,
Josh

Im learning to trust in the Lord more and more every day, it is not easy because we think we can do it on our own but were ful of self pride, but the Lord is taring that wall down brick by brick.

Thank you for the Encouragement.

Hey man,
I've had the same questions run through my mind on marrige. I too found myself asking God "when Lord?" I also agree with all that you brought up in light of the Scriptures. My father and I have talked about this several times together and we have always come out with the same conclusion.
We both are waiting on God's timing for marrige and prayerfully wondering when ti will start taking its course, but our future wives are still growing in the Lord where ever they are right now! The only thing I found worthy of doing now is Pray for her and her spiritual growth and prepare for the day when we shall be joined together. By preparing I mean this; that we must be preparing finantialy and expand ourselves spiritually to be able to be a Godly and Christ-like husbands following the biblical pattern of a good husband. we also have to approach marrige with a right mindset; we are ment to love and serve our wives and lay down our very lives for them, and show them that we love them by our Christ-likness. not expecting what we can get out of the relationship.

I too will be praying ferverently for your deliverance from smoking.
I know the effects that come along with that addiction from second hand expiriance. Youre doing the right thing! Keep it up, and God be with you!

Adam, this is a wonderful post! It is hard to wait, but through the process we all learn the characteristic of patience! The song is so beautiful, a pure longing to wait and just know that the time during the wait is precious and waiting will bring something far greater! May God continue to bless you through your blog!

Hello Adam!

I just found your blog through Josh's "While I'm Waiting...". I saw that you had commented on one of his posts and I thought I would come over and look at your blog. :) I'm glad I did, because I have been very encouraged and blessed by what I've read on here - especially this post! So many guys in our modern world today do not have the right idea of dating/courtship and marriage. Whenever I come across a guy (like you) who has such a wonderful view on it (the "right" view, by the way :) it is such a blessing to me, and reminds me that there ARE guys out there who God has set aside for Christian ladies. When you prepare yourself so young in life, for the right path and outlook on marriage, you are saving yourself much heartache, instead of going with the flow of the modern "technique" of dating, etc.
Yes, that song that Rebecca St. James wrote IS a letter to her future husband. She is still not married, as of yet, but still holding on to the hope that God has her Prince Charming picked out. :)
Also, I wanted to thank you for what you said in your side bar - about when your Sisters in Christ dress modestly. That was an encouragement to ME! Thank you so much, Adam!!

May you keep serving Him and following His light!
Blessings,
Your Sister in Christ,
~Miss Raquel

P.S. I love your blog background. :) Cowboys are such cool people. :) I've always had a dream of marrying, buying a piece of ranch land, building a log cabin and raising tons of little ones for the glory of God! Whenever I see such beautiful ranch/cowboy pictures, it always adds a spark to my dream.
